Can I cook my Main Dishes in a microwave when I am short on time?

We do not recommend this because microwaves cook so unevenly. In addition, each microwave is different and they tend to "age" somewhat rapidly and this alters their ability to cook food evenly as well. Microwaves cook by agitating the water molecules. This causes water to evaporate and (especially in meats) dry the foods out. Food quality is very important to us and microwaving foods will diminish the quality significantly.

How do I know it's safe to order on your site?

To safeguard your payment information (such as credit card number), Main Dish Kitchen uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), the most advanced on-line ordering security system available. SSL encrypts all personal information, including your name, address, and payment information, so that it cannot be read in transit by a third party. Consequently, your payment information is safer when you order on-line with us than when you make a purchase in a restaurant or a store.

Will making meals at Main Dish Kitchen really save me money?

When you factor in the extensiveness of your grocery list for all the ingredients of main course meals, the waste of unused ingredients, and the time to shop, chop and clean up, it is un-debateable what a savings and convenience this really is!

If I lose my cooking instruction label, how do I find out how to cook my Main Dishes at home?

You may now view our "Dish Details" for last month and the current month! From this screen, simply click "Back to" your location, then Current Menus. Find the dish you are making for dinner and look up the cooking instructions this way. If you are cooking a dish from several months ago, please contact us and we will provide you with the cooking instructions, nutritional information, etc.

Why is your seafood and some other meats frozen when we arrive to assemble our meals? Does this mean they are not fresh?

We are using a flash frozen product which is done so that the cells in the fish do not burst and release their water content and become dry when cooked. Another advantage is that the end product (the meals you take home) is going to be put in your freezer and when one puts up to 45lbs of food into a freezer it will take a long time to freeze and could damage the cells again. We want to use flash frozen products.

How and when do I pay for my Main Dishes?

You may pay with Visa, MasterCard or Discover on-line when you place your order. Or, mail in your check or cash payment at least seven days prior to your session. You may also pay with a Gift Card on-line. However, the card is redeemed at your session, so please remember to bring your card with you.

If you are signing up within one week of the session date, please pay on-line or call in your credit card payment. Thank you.

How much does it cost to attend a Main Dish Kitchen session?

You choose based on the dishes or package price you select. Options vary by location.

I've registered for my session and submitted my payment. How do I get to the kitchen on my session day?

Click on "Directions and Hours" for directions and a map to each Main Dish Kitchen location.

What if poor weather does not allow me to make it to my scheduled session?

We ask that you please call to let us know that you will not be coming in the case of severe weather. At that time, we will review the various options and you would not be charged in full in this case, but would have several options for getting your meals or rescheduling.

I know that this will provide me with a LOT of food. How do I transport my Main Dishes home?

Main Dish Kitchen recommends that you bring a laundry basket or cooler to transport your dishes home. During the session, all of your dishes are refrigerated.

Please contact the kitchen closest to you for more detailed information or for any specific questions.
